Bernie Sanders demands Nexstar to air Jimmy Kimmel while denouncing 'political pressure' on TV stations

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., broadcast mixed signals on Thursday with his message to one of the TV providers preempting “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Nexstar Media Group announced Wednesday it would continue to preempt late-night host Jimmy Kimmel from its ABC affiliate stations after Disney lifted his suspension following his controversial comments about the Charlie Kirk assassination. Nexstar’s station in Burlington, Vt., is among those not airing Kimmel.

“Decisions about what Americans watch shouldn’t be dictated by political pressure,” Sanders wrote on X. “Nexstar must immediately restore Jimmy Kimmel to viewers in Vermont and across the U.S. Broadcasters should not cave in to an authoritarian-type president who can’t accept criticism.”

JIMMY KIMMEL’S LATE-NIGHT EVOLUTION FROM APOLITICAL FUNNYMAN TO DEM ACTIVIST

Critics quickly accused Sanders of not living by his own words.

“Government officials bullying media companies is wrong and that’s why a U.S. Senator is here to bully media companies,” conservative X personality Sunny reacted.

DEMOCRATIC SENATORS PROBE NEXSTAR, SINCLAIR OVER JIMMY KIMMEL, WARN BENCHING COULD RUN ‘AFOUL OF FEDERAL LAW’

“You’re applying political pressure, Bernie,” Red State writer Bonchie told the senator.

Included in his X post was a letter Sanders sent to Nexstar CEO Perry Sook decrying how his constituents were unable to see Kimmel’s monologue on television Tuesday night and had to watch it online instead.

“Decisions about what Vermonters and the American people can and cannot watch on television should not be dictated by political pressure from President Donald Trump, his hand-picked Federal Communications Commission Chair (Brendan Carr), or any other government official, regardless of their ideology,” Sanders told Sook. “The role of a broadcaster is to serve the public interest – not politicians who seek to silence and censor criticis and comedians who they do not like.”

Sanders went on to call the move “un-American” and a “dangerous precedent for censorship of the media and political speech.” He also suggested that Nexstar’s battle with Kimmel is tied to the company’s forthcoming $6 billion merger with Tegna.

Neither representatives for Sanders nor Nexstar responded to Fox News Digital‘s requests for comment.

THESE MAJOR MARKETS WON’T BE AIRING ABC’S ‘JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE!’ FOR NOW

Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcast Group are continuing to preempt “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on their ABC stations, totaling more than 60 around the country, roughly a fifth of all ABC stations.

Kimmel drew intense backlash after he falsely insinuated that Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the Kirk assassination, was part of the “MAGA gang” despite reports he had a left-wing ideology, which was reaffirmed in the indictment filed the next day.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel told his audience last week.

ROSEANNE BARR BLASTS ‘DOUBLE STANDARD’ AS JIMMY KIMMEL RETURNS TO LATE-NIGHT SHOW AFTER SUSPENSION

After being sidelined by Disney, Kimmel returned to his show on Tuesday to give an emotional monologue, though stopping short of offering an explicit apology. Fox News Digital previously reported that Nexstar and Sinclair wanted a “sincere” apology before allowing his show to air.

“It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man,” Kimmel said as he tearfully choked up. “Nor was it my intention to blame a specific group for the actions of what was obviously a deeply disturbed individual… I don’t think the murderer who shot Charlie Kirk represents anyone. This was a sick person who believed violence was the solution. And it isn’t. Ever.”

The following day, Nexstar and Sinclair decided to continue preempting Kimmel’s show.

Kirk’s supporters panned Kimmel’s walk-back attempt, many of them calling out the ABC host for not owning up to the falsehood.

“Kimmel is an unrepentant liar who tried to blame Charlie’s assassination on the part of the country that just spent the last 2 weeks praying and holding vigils,” Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet reacted. “What he’s really saying is that he still thinks it’s fair game to slander conservatives. He would rather advance his own political and cultural agenda than confront the truth. The truth is that his own side has been fanning the flames of political assassinations for years. The truth is that someone on the left picked up a gun and murdered someone on the right who advocated for peaceful debate. It’s critical that liars admit they lied. There can be no restoration without that. Anything short of that is a fake and scripted cry line designed to endear him to his fans, not to make right the wrong he committed.”

“It’s critical that liars admit they lied. There can be no restoration without that. Anything short of that is a fake and scripted cry line designed to endear him to his fans, not to make right the wrong he committed,” Kolvet added.

  • Browns' Shedeur Sanders takes jab on current NFL starters: 'I'm capable of doing better'

Browns' Shedeur Sanders takes jab on current NFL starters: 'I'm capable of doing better'

Shedeur Sanders remains third on the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback depth chart, but he says he is ready to go whenever his number is called.

After watching quarterback play across the NFL through three weeks, Sanders said he is confident he could perform better than some current starters.

“I know if you see the quarterback play in the league right now, I know I’m capable of doing better than that,” Sanders told ESPN Cleveland.

Sanders sits behind veteran Joe Flacco and fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, who was drafted two rounds earlier in April. But Sanders said he has been preparing as if he could be called upon at any moment.

“I don’t think playing or not playing is in my hands. I think based on the situation, if things pan out where I play, then I’ll be out there ready to play. I’m ready to play right now,” he said.

DEION SANDERS PREDICTS SON, SHEDEUR, WILL START FOR BROWNS AT SOME POINT THIS SEASON

“I focus each and every day on what I gotta do, and just because of where I am on the depth, I don’t let that dictate my mindset each and every day. You don’t know what can happen or could happen. So, it’s really just keeping the mindset of staying locked in and staying into everything. Remaining focused on the same thing.”

Flacco was named the starter by head coach Kevin Stefanski at the end of training camp in August. Through three weeks, he has not stood out compared to the rest of the league, but Stefanski has not made any depth-chart changes, with Gabriel still not backing up Flacco.

The conversation with Sanders began after ESPN Cleveland asked about comments from his father, Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who predicted his son would play at some point this season.

“Coach Prime” shared his thoughts Monday on the “New Heights” podcast, telling hosts Jason and Travis Kelce he has “got a feeling when it’s going to go down.”

The elder Sanders also said he told his son to “be patient and be ready” for when the Browns call on him. He declined to specify when he expects Shedeur to make his first start, and the Kelces did not press him.

The Browns drafted Shedeur with the expectation of developing him for the future, with Flacco serving as a stopgap until one of the rookies is ready. So far, the coaching staff believes Gabriel is ahead, but the season is still young.

  • Riley Gaines vs NCAA lawsuit advances after federal judge partially denies motions to dismiss

Riley Gaines vs NCAA lawsuit advances after federal judge partially denies motions to dismiss

The Riley Gaines vs. NCAA lawsuit took a big step forward Thursday.

U.S. district judge Tiffany Johnson partially denied the NCAA’s motion to dismiss, as the lawsuit will now proceed.

Gaines and the lawsuit’s plaintiffs, comprised of current and former female college athletes impacted by transgender inclusion, seek to hold the NCAA accountable for its previous policy that allowed biological male trans athletes to compete in the women’s category.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Gaines and other former NCAA women’s swimmers cite their experience competing against and sharing a locker room with former UPenn transgender swimmer Lia Thomas.

Other plaintiffs in the lawsuit include former San Jose State volleyball captain Brooke Slusser, citing her experience with former trans teammate Blaire Fleming, and former Rochester Institute of Technology women’s track and field athlete Caroline Hill, citing her experience with former trans athlete Sadie Schreiner.

Johnson ruled that the plaintiffs have plausibly alleged the NCAA receives federal financial assistance, and thus, is subject to requirements of Title IX.

However, Johnson also ruled that plaintiffs have not plausibly alleged the NCAA is a state actor and have not plausibly alleged a violation of a right to bodily privacy.

The lawsuit was filed in March of last year, two years after Gaines infamously tied with Thomas at the NCAA women’s swimming championships. Multiple female swimmers were forced to share the women’s locker room with Thomas that year.

The suit also names the University of Georgia System and Georgia Tech (which hosted the 2022 swimming championships) as defendants. Johnson granted the university’s motion to dismiss.

Gaines attorney, Bill Bock of the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS), praised Johnson’s decision to let the lawsuit proceed against the NCAA.

“We agree with the aspects of Judge Johnson’s order that permit this important lawsuit to proceed against the NCAA. The NCAA has for years erroneously claimed it cannot be held accountable under Title IX, even though the NCAA controls significant aspects of college athletics for colleges and universities which receive federal funding,” Bock said.

“Judge Johnson’s ruling is a significant step forward for Plaintiffs in this lawsuit, and we are pleased to be able to move forward with the lawsuit. We will now move on to the discovery phase and look forward to proving that the NCAA is fully accountable under Title IX.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the NCAA for comment.

  • Brazen blue state jewelry store heist caught on camera as armed mob makes off with $1M in merchandise: police

Brazen blue state jewelry store heist caught on camera as armed mob makes off with $1M in merchandise: police

Nearly two dozen suspects, some of them armed, brazenly targeted a California jewelry store during a smash-and-grab robbery as organized retail theft continues to pose a problem across the state.

Surveillance video at Heller Jewelers in the Bay Area city of San Ramon captured a mob of masked thieves storming into the store on Monday and smashing displays with hammers and pickaxes, authorities said.

They made off with around $1 million in merchandise, the San Ramon Police Department said.

ELDERLY JEWELRY STORE OWNER HOSPITALIZED AFTER SMASH-AND-GRAB ROBBERY LEAVES SAN JOSE SHOP DESTROYED

At least one suspect fired a shot through the front entrance, police said. Others entered the store pointing firearms at employees.

Once the heist was over, the suspects fled in waiting vehicles in the City Center Bishop Ranch valet parking area, authorities said. Police chased the cars but ended the pursuit to allow helicopters to track them.

Several suspects were detained in Oakland and a nearby suburb, including 27-year-old Jimmy Ray and his brother Michael Ray, KTVU-TV reported.

Meanwhile, in an incident two weeks ago in San Jose, an 88-year-old jewelry shop owner is recovering after she was shoved to the ground as thieves raided her store in a similar smash-and-grab robbery caught on camera.

PROGRESSIVE CITIES FACE BILLIONS IN ECONOMIC LOSSES AS RETAIL CRIME SURGES 93% SINCE 2019

Surveillance video from Kim Hung Jewelry showed suspects backing up an SUV into the store’s glass windows before more than a dozen of them stormed in and grabbed items from display cases.

California launched its own Organized Retail Crime Task Force to combat large-scale retail thefts.

In 2025, the task force, which is led by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), made over 700 arrests and recovered nearly 150,000 stolen items worth $8 million, as of August.

“We are serious about stamping out crime rings that target California’s businesses and undermine public safety. We appreciate the work of our law enforcement partners statewide to apprehend these bad actors,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom said at the time.

  • Greta Thunberg’s flotilla bombarded with Abba music after radios hijacked: report

Greta Thunberg’s flotilla bombarded with Abba music after radios hijacked: report

Greta Thunberg and her flotilla were bombarded with Abba music after hijackers intercepted their radios, according to reports.

GB News reported that the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) blamed Israel for the stunt, which looped Abba’s “Lay All Your Love On Me” for hours—a possible jab at Thunberg’s Swedish roots.

The flotilla is part of a movement of dozens of boats from 44 countries carrying food, water and medicine to civilians in Gaza. Several ships in the fleet were targeted in the musical attack, GB News reported.

“They’re jamming our radio,” GSF member Yasemin Acar said in a video with Abba being blasted in the background. “We don’t know where this is coming from, the sound, but other vessels are experiencing the same thing,” Acar added.

HAMAS PLOTS INFILTRATION AT US-BACKED GAZA AID SITE, FORCES TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN

The GSF claimed on social media that Israeli military drones targeted several ships in the flotilla Tuesday, reportedly damaging communication equipment and some masts.

The flotilla is days away from reaching about 200 miles off Gaza’s coast. Earlier this month, Tunisian officials rejected the group’s claim that a drone bombed one of its main vessels.

The group said the Portuguese-flagged boat sustained damage to its main deck and storage below, but no one was hurt. Tunisia’s Interior Ministry said reports of a drone strike at Sidi Bou Said port “have no basis in truth,” and said it was investigating a fire on the deck, Reuters reported.

US-BACKED GAZA AID GROUP SLAMS DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS, ACCUSES IT OF SPREADING ‘FALSE’ CLAIMS

“Acts of aggression aimed at intimidating and derailing our mission will not deter us,” GSF said in a statement. “Our peaceful mission to break the siege on Gaza and stand in solidarity with its people continues with determination and resolve.”

Thunberg’s second attempt at leading a flotilla comes amid the war in Gaza, which has killed more than 63,000 people, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry.

HAMAS LOSING IRON GRIP ON GAZA AS US-BACKED GROUP GETS AID TO PALESTINIANS IN NEED

At a press conference in Barcelona before departing, Thunberg framed the mission as an act of survival.

“The story here is about Palestine. The story here is how people are being deliberately deprived of the very basic means to survive,” Thunberg said, alleging that Israel was violating international law by “unlawfully intercepting boats in international waters” and preventing humanitarian aid from reaching civilians.

It is not Thunberg’s first attempt at delivering aid. In June, she was deported after Israeli forces stopped her ship, the Madleen, along with 11 others on board. Israel has enforced a naval blockade on Gaza since Hamas seized control in 2007, saying it is needed to prevent weapons smuggling.

The blockade remains in place during the current war sparked by Hamas’ deadly October 2023 attack on Israel.

  • Trump stakes Gaza peace hopes on 21-point plan as Israel, Houthis continue deadly fighting

Trump stakes Gaza peace hopes on 21-point plan as Israel, Houthis continue deadly fighting

As President Donald Trump’s new peace plan circulates at the United Nations, Israel launched long-range strikes deep inside Yemen, hitting targets more than 2,000 kilometers from home and underscoring how volatile the Middle East remains even as diplomacy plays out in New York.

Trump unveiled a 21-point initiative to end the Gaza war during meetings with Arab leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly this week. A White House official, speaking on background, told Fox News Digital: “The President underscored his desire to bring fighting in Gaza to an expeditious close. Special Envoy Witkoff summarized the U.S. plan for Gaza, including: the return of all hostages living and deceased; no further attacks on Qatar; a new dialogue between Israel and Palestinians for peaceful coexistence; and more.”

“Foreign partners expressed broad agreement that President Trump was the only one who could end the fighting in Gaza, and expressed the hope that they could work together with Special Envoy Witkoff to consider the President’s plan as Americans continue to engage with Israeli officials,” the White House official added.

Arab officials told Fox News Digital that during the meeting, leaders pressed Trump to confirm he would block Israeli annexation of the West Bank, describing the discussion as “productive.”

FRANCE SAYS UN RECOGNITION OF PALESTINIAN STATE IS A BLOW TO HAMAS NOT A GIFT

Speaking at the Concordia Annual Summit in New York, U.S. special envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff also described a “very productive” meeting Tuesday between Trump and officials from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan.

“We presented what we call the Trump 21-point plan for peace in the Middle East,” Witkoff said. “I think it addresses Israeli concerns as well as concerns of neighbors in the region.”

ABBAS TO ADDRESS UN AFTER VISA CLASH WITH US AS QUESTIONS SWIRL OVER HAMAS

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, speaking in a recorded UNGA address after being barred from entry to the U.S., also signaled support. “We declare that we are ready to work with U.S. President Donald Trump and with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, the United Nations and all partners to implement the peace plan that was approved in the conference that was held on the 22nd of September, in a way that would lead towards a just peace and regional cooperation,” Abbas said.

Abbas added that the PA is prepared to take over security and governance in Gaza, while Hamas must disarm. “The dawn of freedom will emerge, and the flag of Palestine will fly high in our skies as a symbol of dignity, steadfastness and being free from the yoke of occupation,” he said. “Palestine is ours. Jerusalem is the jewel of our hearts and our eternal capital. We will not leave our homeland. We will not leave our lands.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, before departing for New York where he is scheduled to address the UNGA Friday, said without directly commenting on the 21-point proposal: “In Washington I will meet for the fourth time with President Trump, and I will discuss with him the great opportunities our victories have brought, as well as our need to complete the war’s objectives: to return all of our hostages, to defeat Hamas, and to expand the circle of peace that has come our way following the historic victory.”

Even as Trump pushed diplomacy in New York, Israel expanded its campaign against Iran-backed militias. The IDF confirmed Thursday it carried out a wide wave of airstrikes against Houthi targets in Sana’a, Yemen, less than 24 hours after a Houthi drone slammed into a hotel in Eilat, wounding 24 people, two of them seriously.

Saudi and Israeli media reported more than 10 strikes during the Houthis’ weekly address, targeting command centers, intelligence headquarters, and military compounds. Israeli officials estimate over 50 militants were killed. The IDF said the operation involved dozens of aircraft and long-range refueling, marking Israel’s 15th strike in Yemen since the war began.

Defense Minister Israel Katz said the raids, carried out under the codename Package Delivered, dealt a heavy blow. “We struck numerous terror targets of the Houthi regime in Sana’a, eliminating dozens of operatives and destroying stockpiles of drones and weapons,” Katz declared. “As I promised yesterday — those who harm us will be harmed sevenfold.”

Ex-NFL MVP Shaun Alexander reveals he's expecting 14th child with wife

Former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander’s family is getting bigger, announcing that his wife is pregnant with their 14th child.

Alexander, the Seattle Seahawks legend who won league MVP in 2005, shared the news on the “Up & Adams” show with Kay Adams after she brought up his “beautiful family.”

“We’re just now starting to tell people, but number 14 is in the belly,” Alexander said, smiling. “You’re the first one I’ve told on TV. So, we’re just now starting to tell everybody.”

Alexander and his wife, Valerie, have 10 girls and three boys, though he wouldn’t divulge which number will be added to with baby No. 14.

SEAHAWKS LEGEND PREDICTS SAM DARNOLD WILL TOP HIS CAREER-BEST 2024 SEASON WITH SEATTLE

Adams brought up the fact that Philip Rivers, the Los Angeles Chargers’ legendary quarterback, usually gets headlines for having 10 children, but Alexander has him beat on that front.

Rivers is one of the new first-time Pro Football Hall of Fame nominees, and Alexander hopes to one day be in the halls of Canton, too.

“I want my kids to see the Hall of Fame. Am I asking too much?” he said.

Alexander was the 2005 NFL MVP after leading the league in rushing yards (1,880) and rushing touchdowns (27) on 370 attempts over 16 games. He helped the Seahawks reach the Super Bowl that season, though they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-10.

Alexander was named to three straight Pro Bowls from 2003-05, as he cemented himself as one of the league’s best rushers. He played eight of his nine NFL seasons in Seattle, tallying 9,453 rushing yards and 100 rushing touchdowns over 123 games (96 starts).

He played a lone season with the then-Washington Redskins, though it was only for four games in 2008.

  • Comey indicted for alleged false statement, obstruction of congressional proceeding

Comey indicted for alleged false statement, obstruction of congressional proceeding

Former FBI Director James Comey was indicted by a grand jury on two counts, alleged false statements within jurisdiction of the legislative branch and obstruction of a congressional proceeding, Fox News Digital has learned.

Fox News Digital exclusively reported in July that Comey was under criminal investigation by the FBI. The probe into Comey centered on whether he lied to Congress during his Sept. 30, 2020, testimony about his handling of the original Trump–Russia probe at the FBI, known inside the bureau as “Crossfire Hurricane.”

“No one is above the law,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi on X. “Today’s indictment reflects this Department of Justice’s commitment to holding those who abuse positions of power accountable for misleading the American people. We will follow the facts in this case.”

FBI Director Kash Patel took to X to say, “Today, your FBI took another step in its promise of full accountability.”

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SEEKS TO INDICT FORMER FBI DIRECTOR JAMES COMEY FOR ALLEGEDLY LYING TO CONGRESS

“For far too long, previous corrupt leadership and their enablers weaponized federal law enforcement, damaging once proud institutions and severely eroding public trust. Every day, we continue the fight to earn that trust back, and under my leadership, this FBI will confront the problem head-on. Nowhere was this politicization of law enforcement more blatant than during the Russiagate hoax, a disgraceful chapter in history we continue to investigate and expose,” wrote Patel. He added, “Everyone, especially those in positions of power, will be held to account – no matter their perch.”

Fox News Digital also exclusively reported that former CIA Director John Brennan is under criminal investigation related to the Trump–Russia probe.

Under federal law, prosecutors have five years to bring a charge, with the five-year mark occurring Tuesday.

The case is being handled by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Former Special Counsel Robert Mueller was appointed to take over the FBI’s original “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation. After nearly two years, Mueller’s investigation, which concluded in March 2019, yielded no evidence of criminal conspiracy or coordination between the Trump campaign and Russian officials during the 2016 presidential election.

Shortly after, John Durham was appointed as special counsel to investigate the origins of the “Crossfire Hurricane” probe.

Durham found that the FBI “failed to act” on a “clear warning sign” that the bureau was the “target” of a Clinton-led effort to “manipulate or influence the law enforcement process for political purposes” ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

“The aforementioned facts reflect a rather startling and inexplicable failure to adequately consider and incorporate the Clinton Plan intelligence into the FBI’s investigative decision-making in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” Durham’s report states.

EXCLUSIVE: FBI LAUNCHES CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS OF JOHN BRENNAN, JAMES COMEY: DOJ SOURCES

“Indeed, had the FBI opened the Crossfire Hurricane investigation as an assessment and, in turn, gathered and analyzed data in concert with the information from the Clinton Plan intelligence, it is likely that the information received would have been examined, at a minimum, with a more critical eye,” the report continued.

Durham, in his report, said the FBI “failed to act on what should have been—when combined with other incontrovertible facts— a clear warning sign that the FBI might then be the target of an effort to manipulate or influence the law enforcement process for political purposes during the 2016 presidential election.”

  • NFL Commish Roger Goodell downplays conflict concern over Tom Brady's Raiders investment, broadcaster roles

NFL Commish Roger Goodell downplays conflict concern over Tom Brady's Raiders investment, broadcaster roles

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell downplayed the idea that future Pro Football Hall of Famer Tom Brady’s dual role as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders and FOX Sports’ top NFL analyst creates a serious conflict of interest.

Brady is in the midst of his second season as FOX’s lead analyst. Brady’s broadcasting job allows him the opportunity to have special access to players and coaches — a perk that others who hold minority stakes in teams do not have. Over the past year and a half, Brady’s access has sparked concerns about a conflict of interest.

During Week 2’s matchup between the Raiders and the Los Angeles Chargers, Brady was seen wearing a headset inside the Raiders’ booth.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

In a statement, the NFL clarified that Brady’s actions were not in violation of league rules. Brady is “prohibited from going to a team facility for practices or production meetings,” the NFL said. However, the former New England Patriots quarterback is permitted to be present in the coaches’ booth, per the league.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell further addressed the rumblings about Brady’s access during a recent interview with CNBC. “Teams have the right to say whatever they want to. They don’t have to disclose any information if they think it’s a conflict of interest,” Goodell said.

TOM BRADY CALLS CRITICS OF HIS ROLES AS BOTH RAIDERS OWNER, FOX BROADCASTER ‘PARANOID AND DISTRUSTFUL’

Goodell also noted that teams are not obligated to reveal any information and often hold back in meetings with former players-turned-broadcasters, considering the close ties they may still have with their former teams.

“Teams don’t need to say anything. Sometimes they don’t say anything to somebody who’s not [a minority owner]. We get a lot of former players that are in [broadcast meetings] that are close to their former teams. I think our teams are pretty smart about saying, ‘I’m not sharing something with him.’”

Goodell added that there are protocols that safeguard Brady from being privy to anything that could give the Raiders an unfair edge.

“Where’s the conflict?” Goodell said. “He’s not hanging around in the facilities. We don’t allow that.”

In Brady’s debut season in the broadcast booth, he was barred from attending the production meetings that included a given game’s broadcast crew and the head coaches and some players from both sides of the matchup. The league decided to loosen some of those restrictions for the 2025 season. He is now allowed to participate in those meetings, albeit from a remote setting.

On Wednesday, the seven-time Super Bowl winner pushed back against discussions questioning whether his role as a Raiders investor and his responsibilities in the broadcast booth could coexist.

Brady effectively characterized anyone who holds serious concerns that he was privy to a competitive advantage as “paranoid and distrustful.”

“I love football. At its core, it is a game of principles. And with all the success it has given me, I feel I have a moral and ethical duty to the sport; which is why the point where my roles in it intersect is not actually a point of conflict, despite what the paranoid and distrustful might believe. Rather, it’s the place from which my ethical duty emerges: to grow, evolve, and improve the game that has given me everything,” Brady wrote in an entry to his newsletter titled, “Do Your Job.”

Brady, alongside lead FOX NFL voice Kevin Burkhardt, is scheduled to be on the call on Sunday when the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

  • Passionate Bryson DeChambeau says missing 2023 Ryder Cup 'put a fire in my stomach' for Team USA return

Passionate Bryson DeChambeau says missing 2023 Ryder Cup 'put a fire in my stomach' for Team USA return

Bryson DeChambeau is at Bethpage Black with a vengeance.

When DeChambeau made the controversial move from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf, he knew what he signed up for, understanding that it would be much more difficult to play in the Ryder Cup.

Team USA’s automatic qualifiers make the team through FedEx Cup points, which are attained in golf’s four majors and other PGA Tour events. But with LIV Golf only able to compete in the majors, DeChambeau missed out on qualifying for the 2023 team and was not selected as a captain’s pick.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

“Yeah, it sucked. I wanted to be there. Didn’t play well enough in the majors,” DeChambeau told reporters Thursday. “Knew what I was up against when I went to LIV. That’s a whole other conversation. But still wanted to make the team and wasn’t able to.”

After a crushing loss sans him in Rome two years ago, DeChambeau had eight chances for Bethpage (four majors in 2024 and 2025) to make this year’s team. In those tournaments, he won the 2024 U.S. Open, finished second in both PGA Championships, and had three other top-10 finishes.

That was enough to not only get him on the team, but to automatically qualify.

“Seeing the guys lose really put a fire in my stomach and wanted to make the team this time around. Now we’re here, and we’re a day away from starting probably, if not the most exciting golf event in golf,” DeChambeau said.

It’s certainly a relief for DeChambeau, who was ineligible for last year’s Olympics and could not compete in 2021 after getting COVID.

EUROPEAN RYDER CUP PLAYER UNIMPRESSED WITH TRUMP’S ATTENDANCE: ‘JUST ANOTHER SPECTATOR’

“That was a pretty big shot to the heart. Playing in team events my whole entire life, playing in the Walker Cup, World Amateur, numerous other team events, that’s all I wanted to do growing up,” he said.

But ever since missing out on Rome, he has had Bethpage circled on his calendar.

“Being on the Ryder Cup for a winning team and a losing team, experiencing both the highs and the lows and missing in Rome, this has put something in my stomach that’s kind of made it a mission project for me,” a stoic DeChambeau said. “I want to be a part of this team and be the most helpful person I can for this team in whatever way possible that is.

“The words really aren’t there right now to explain how passionate I am about this USA team and how good I think we are and how positive we are and how encouraging we are, inspiring we are, and what this captain has done to bring us together, to band us together like other like possibly no other captains have done in the history.”

“Making this team was a passion project of mine. It was A1,” he added. “It was the thing I wanted to do most, represent my country.”
